STEP 1 - WOODWORK

After all of my plans and sketches trying to get the perfect design I could finally get down to the proper work. The first step was to build/make the frame. I did this by starting with the main 4 wooden pillars, and the four smaller pieces of wood to join them up.

First I marked on them the places that i needed to drill so that the dowel could fit in. From the top of the wooden cuboid I marked down 3cm and drew a straight line then I measured 2cm down (the width of the wooden pole) this made a square so I put a X in the square to get the place where to drill.

Next i need to measure a cm down from the bottom of the square then move to the side to the right/left of the wooden cuboid. Then I need to do the same process of making a square with an X in it diagonally downwards from the last one.

And finally I need to drill the holes and put in dowels.

FINAL IDEA

This will explain who my lamp is for and why i have chosen it for that person. I have chose this lamp because my mum likes it and as it is for her i couldn't choose any other one. She liked it because it is quite modern, just like 'Memphis', and suits/goes well with the room I'm planning for it to go in. So here it is, my Final Idea from two different angles:

DESIGN IDEAS

After coming up with about 5 or 6 ideas it was really hard to choose just one to make as they were all interesting designs with something eye-catching about them. they all were themed with the colour yellow and could quite easily be recognized as a Memphis lamp.

INSPIRATION

The Lamp art style that i have chosen is 'Memphis'. I chose this because all of the art work was really creative and looked great! And as it looked good it goes well in my font room which has yellow/cream coloured blinds; therefore i made the lamp shades yellow. This way they go well together at will look good.

Here are some of the lamps that i liked and the ones that inspired me as well:
